Assault Suits Valken Declassified brings the acclaimed 16-bit mecha action game to Nintendo Switch in its definitive form. Originally released in Japan in 1992, the game was significantly edited and censored for its Western release under the name Cybernator.
This Declassified edition restores the original Japanese version and presents it with an official English translation for the first time.
Pilot the powerful Valken assault suit across seven action-packed stages, combining side-scrolling shooting, platforming and heavy mecha combat against enemy machines and military forces.
The game is known for its weighty mechanical movement, detailed 2D animation and cinematic science-fiction presentation.
The Declassified release goes considerably beyond a straightforward re-release. It includes a recreation of the original 80-page Japanese guidebook translated into English, with around 40 pages dedicated to the game's backstory, alongside new artwork from character designer Satoshi Urushihara and previously unseen production artwork.
The original and arranged soundtracks can also be explored through an in-game music player, together with an interview with mecha designer Satoshi Nakai.
Modern additions include save and load states, replay recording and playback, Retro Color screen filters, unlockable cheats and a Super Playthrough mode, making this a particularly comprehensive version of the cult Super Nintendo classic.
