Description:

Repair a Mega Drive 2 or Genesis console that only powers on when the plug is held in place, cuts out when the cable is moved, or has a loose or damaged power socket.

Over time the power socket can wear or crack, or the solder joints can fail, leaving the console with an unreliable power connection. Fitting a new socket restores a firm, reliable connection for your power supply.

Before replacing the socket, try a different known working power supply, as a faulty power supply can cause the same symptoms.

Compatible with Sega Mega Drive 2, Genesis 2 (model 2), Genesis 3, Nomad and CDX consoles.

Not suitable for the original Mega Drive / Genesis model 1, Master System or Game Gear, which use a different socket.

Fitting requires console disassembly, desoldering of the old socket and soldering of the new one to the mainboard. Fit the new socket in the same position as the original and check your solder joints before reassembling.
