Description
The 8BitDo Wireless USB Adapter is a small Bluetooth-to-USB receiver that lets you use almost any modern Bluetooth controller on a host that wouldn't otherwise accept it. Plug it in, put your controller into pairing mode, and the adapter presents the controller as a standard input device.
The classic use case is the Switch: pair a DualSense PS5 or PS4 controller and the console treats it as a Pro Controller. The same adapter also works on Windows, macOS, Raspberry Pi (great for emulation handhelds and RetroPie builds), and the PS Classic mini-console. Vibration is supported in X-input mode on PC, and the adapter passes through six-axis motion on Switch.
Note that Xbox is no longer supported due to changes by Microsoft from classic bluetooth to BLE.
For advanced users, 8BitDo's free Ultimate Software (PC) lets you remap buttons, set up turbo, build macros and create per-profile bindings. For everyone else, the adapter works out of the box - Ultimate Software is optional, not required.

FAQ
Q: Will my DualSense's adaptive triggers and haptic feedback work?
A: No. The adapter delivers standard rumble and button/stick input, not the DualSense's adaptive trigger or advanced haptic data. Those features only work on a host that natively supports them (the PS5).
Q: Does it work with Xbox controllers?
A: No. The adapter no longer works wiht Xbox controllers due to the change by microsoft to use BLE instead of classic bluetooth.
Q: Can I use it for emulation on a Raspberry Pi running RetroPie?
A: Yes. Plug it into the Pi's USB port, pair your controller, and RetroPie sees a generic gamepad. Many RetroPie / Batocera builds explicitly support this adapter.
Q: Can I remap buttons?
A: Yes - through 8BitDo's free Ultimate Software on PC. You set up the mapping, turbo and macros via the PC software, then take the adapter back to the Switch / Pi with the profile loaded.
Q: Is this the same as the 8BitDo USB Adapter 2?
A: No. 8BitDo has shipped two generations - the original Wireless USB Adapter and the Wireless USB Adapter 2. This listing covers the original. The two are similar in concept; check the specific SKU on 8BitDo's site if you need fine-grain feature parity.
Q: Will it work on a Mac?
A: Yes. macOS sees the adapter as a generic HID gamepad. Games and emulators that accept generic gamepad input will work; some titles look for specific controller IDs and may need a remapper such as Joystick Mapper or Enjoyable.
