Description:
The Retroverse Open Expansion Pak is a replacement memory expansion module for the Nintendo 64, based on the Open Source N64 Expansion Pak project. Manufactured by Retroverse, it provides a modern, high-quality alternative to original Expansion Paks using the published open source hardware design.
Once installed, the Expansion Pak increases the Nintendo 64's installed memory from 4MB to 8MB. This additional memory is required by games such as Donkey Kong 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. Many other compatible titles also use the Expansion Pak to enable optional high-resolution graphics modes, additional gameplay features or expanded multiplayer support.
The Open Expansion Pak installs directly into the Nintendo 64 Expansion Pak slot, replacing the standard Jumper Pak. No console modification is required.
Further Info:
Compatible with Nintendo 64 consoles fitted with a standard Expansion Pak slot.
This product is an Expansion Pak, which increases the Nintendo 64's built-in system memory from 4MB to 8MB. It should not be confused with the Jumper Pak, which is the standard module fitted to consoles without an Expansion Pak, or the Controller Pak (also known as a Memory Pak), which is used by compatible games to store save data.
Manufactured by Retroverse using the Open Source N64 Expansion Pak hardware design.
Installation requires removal of the existing Jumper Pak or Expansion Pak before fitting the replacement module. No soldering or console modification is required.

FAQ:Q: Does this save my game progress?
A: No. The Expansion Pak increases the Nintendo 64's system memory and does not store save data. Games save progress using their own internal save memory, the Controller Pak (Memory Pak), or other supported save methods depending on the game.
Q: Is this the same as a Jumper Pak?
A: No. The Jumper Pak is the standard module supplied with the console. The Expansion Pak replaces the Jumper Pak and expands the Nintendo 64's system memory from 4MB to 8MB.
Q: Is this the same as a Memory Pak (Controller Pak)?
A: No. A Controller Pak (also known as a Memory Pak) plugs into the Nintendo 64 controller and is used by compatible games to store save data. The Expansion Pak installs in the console itself and increases the system's available memory.
Q: Do I need to modify my console?
A: No. The Expansion Pak simply replaces the existing Jumper Pak in the console's Expansion Pak slot. No soldering or console modification is required.
