In the retro world it is the recommended replacement for the original HES-ACA-02/03 adaptor that powers the US NEC TurboGrafx-CD interface unit (CD dock). It also suits other equipment needing 12V at up to 2A on a 5.5 x 2.5mm centre-negative plug, such as some scalers, switches and LED projects - always check the voltage, polarity and plug of your device first.
