ZedLabz stocks DualShock 3 controllers and parts, AV and charging cables, plus a separate dedicated repair-parts collection for board-level work like the well-documented YLOD fault. The Defender wireless 2.4GHz pad from Retro Fighters is also PS3-compatible.
Quick picks for PS3 owners
- The most-demanded fix: a replacement DualShock 3 controller or fresh thumbsticks for an original controller, the most common PS3 wear part.
- The everyday refresh: fresh DualShock 3, replacement HDMI cable, fresh mini-USB charging cable. The PS3 has been around long enough that all three commonly need replacement.
- The full repair set: see PS3 spare parts and mods for board-level repair components including NEC Tokin replacements.
PS3 accessory and repair priorities
- Controller refresh: DualShock 3 controllers degrade in standard ways, sticks, triggers, batteries. Replacements stocked.
- HDMI / AV cable refresh: original PS3 HDMI cables wear; replacement HDMI is a no-modification swap.
- Charging cable: PS3 controllers use mini-USB, not micro-USB. Original cables get lost or wear; fresh cables restore charging.
- Defender wireless controller: the Retro Fighters Defender 2.4GHz pad works on PS1, PS2, PS3, PS Classic, Switch and PC.
- Internal repair: the PS3 Fat is well-known for the Yellow Light of Death (YLOD) tied to NEC Tokin capacitor degradation. See our PS3 spare parts and mods collection for the Tantalizer NEC Tokin replacement PCB and capacitor kits. Advanced soldering required.

PS3. FAQs
What's the difference between PS3 Fat, Slim and Super Slim?
The PS3 Fat (CECHA / CECHB / CECHC / CECHE, 2006-2009) is the original launch design with a glossy curved top. The Slim (CECH-2000 / 3000, 2009) is a redesigned smaller chassis. The Super Slim (CECH-4000, 2012) is smaller again with a sliding disc cover instead of a slot-loading drive. Many controller and cable parts are interchangeable across all three; internal parts are revision-specific.
What's the Yellow Light of Death and can it be fixed?
YLOD is a common fault on early PS3 Fat units (CECHA / CECHB / CECHC / CECHE) where the console flashes yellow on power and refuses to boot. The most-attempted repair is replacing the NEC Tokin bulk filter capacitors near the Cell and RSX, which lose ESR specification with age and trigger voltage instability. Tantalizer replacement PCBs and SMD capacitor kits are stocked in our PS3 spare parts and mods collection. The repair is advanced and requires motherboard-level soldering experience.
Will Retro Fighters Defender controllers work on PS3?
Yes. The Defender 2.4GHz wireless pad works on PS1, PS2, PS3, PS Classic, Switch and PC via the included USB dongle. On PS3 it plugs into the console's USB port and pairs immediately.
Are DualShock 3 batteries replaceable?
Yes. The DualShock 3 internal Li-Po cell can be replaced; original cells from launch are now well past their normal cycle life. Replacement involves opening the controller (Phillips screws) and unplugging the original battery connector, no soldering on the standard variants.
