PS4 headsets and earphones. FAQs
Will any 3.5mm headset work on PS4?
Most do. The PS4 pad takes a four-pole 3.5mm CTIA-style plug, which carries headphones plus mic. Standard three-pole headphones work for audio only. Older two-jack PC headsets need an adapter to combine the audio and mic plugs.
Can I use Bluetooth headphones on PS4?
Sony doesn't allow native Bluetooth audio on PS4, the system blocks generic Bluetooth headsets. Workarounds include USB Bluetooth dongles that present as a USB audio device, or a Bluetooth transmitter into the controller's 3.5mm jack. Wireless headsets with their own dongle bypass the issue entirely.
Why does my PS4 headset mic sound quiet?
Common causes: mic level set low in PS4 audio settings, the headset pushed too far in or partially in the jack, or a worn 3.5mm socket on the controller. Check the audio settings first, reseat the plug, and if it persists try a known-good headset to isolate the controller jack.
Are wireless headsets worth it for PS4?
If you move around or sit far from the TV, yes, wireless USB-dongle headsets cut the cable and give longer range. Tradeoffs: a battery to recharge, and most wireless models cost more than their wired equivalents at the same audio quality.
