The PS4 stack runs on a few specific cables, the kettle-style mains lead to the console, an HDMI cable to the TV, and the DualShock 4's micro-USB charging cable. Plus the internal Li-ion battery in the pad, which is replaceable. We stock all of those plus AV adapters and the odd extra USB lead for streamer setups.
Quick picks by need
- If the controller won't charge: the micro-USB cable is the most common culprit before the battery itself. Swap the cable first; if the pad still won't take charge, the internal battery is the next suspect.
- If picture is missing or flickering: a fresh HDMI cable rules out the cheap fix before assuming the console's HDMI port is dying. Higher-grade HDMI 2.0 cables also help on PS4 Pro setups.
- If the console won't power on: a kettle-style mains lead replacement is the cheap test before suspecting the internal PSU.

PS4 cables, batteries and adapters. FAQs
Can I replace the DualShock 4 internal battery?
Yes. The DS4's internal Li-ion connects via a small JST-style plug, so most revisions don't need soldering. A fresh cell typically restores hours of wireless play that a tired original can't deliver. Match capacity and connector to the original on disassembly.
What HDMI cable do I need for a PS4 Pro?
For 4K HDR output, an HDMI 2.0 cable rated for 18Gbps. Many "high speed" cables labeled HDMI 1.4 won't carry the full 4K HDR signal cleanly. The PS4 Pro is fussier than the standard PS4 about cable quality on long runs.
Is the PS4 mains lead the same as a PC kettle lead?
Yes, the PS4 uses a standard IEC C7 (figure-eight) or C13 (kettle) mains lead depending on revision. The original PS4 uses C7; the Slim and Pro use C13/C7 variants. Check the socket on the rear of your console before ordering.
Why does my DS4 not hold a charge any more?
Li-ion batteries lose capacity over years and charge cycles, that's normal wear, not a fault. After heavy use, original DS4 batteries typically deliver a fraction of their original runtime. The fix is a fresh cell. While you're in there, fresh sticks and pads are worth considering.
