The DualSense is a great pad with one well-known issue, analog stick drift. The standard sticks use contact-based potentiometers that wear with use, and many DualSense units develop drift inside the warranty cycle. We stock the replacement modules and Hall-effect upgrades that address it, plus the rest of the consumable parts, batteries, triggers, shells and screws.
Quick picks by symptom
- If your sticks drift: a replacement stick module restores neutral centering. For a longer-term fix, Hall-effect modules use magnetic sensors instead of contact-based potentiometers, avoiding the contact wear mechanism that causes drift.
- If the triggers feel weak or rattly: the adaptive trigger module includes a small motor and gearbox that can wear or break. Replacement modules are available.
- If the pad won't hold charge: the internal Li-ion battery is replaceable. A fresh cell typically restores normal wireless runtime.
The DualSense repair ladder
- Open the pad: Tri-wing Y-bit and Phillips PH00. The DualSense is fiddlier than older PlayStation pads, the front and rear shells split with care, watch for ribbon cables.
- Replace the stick module: light to intermediate soldering. Hall-effect alternatives install the same way. Set aside an evening if it's your first controller repair.
- Replace the battery: connector-based on the DualSense, typically no soldering. Match capacity and connector orientation.
- Replace adaptive trigger module: intermediate work. The trigger assembly is its own sub-board.
- Cosmetic shell swap: see PS5 controller shells for replacement housings and faceplates.

PS5 controller spare parts. FAQs
Can I fix DualSense stick drift?
Yes. The community-standard fix is swapping the analog stick module. Like-for-like replacement restores the original feel; Hall-effect modules use magnetic sensors and address the contact-wear failure mechanism that causes drift in the first place. Both involve light soldering and a controller teardown.
Are Hall-effect sticks worth it for DualSense?
Many modders rate them as a strong long-term fix. The standard DualSense potentiometer is the part that wears; a Hall-effect module sidesteps that wear path. Some users notice a slight feel difference (deadzone, return spring tension), most adjust within a session of play.
How hard is it to replace a DualSense stick?
Intermediate. The teardown itself is fiddly, small ribbon cables, multiple sub-boards. The stick module is held by 12–14 solder joints. With a temperature-controlled iron, desolder braid and patience, most modders finish a first repair in an evening. Watch a recent teardown video before starting.
Does the DualSense Edge use the same parts?
Partly. The DualSense Edge has user-replaceable stick modules as a designed feature, different connector and module than the standard DualSense. Some shells, buttons and triggers share form factors but the stick assemblies are not interchangeable. Check the model on the rear before ordering.
