Hard drives, memory units and HDD transfer kits for the Xbox 360. The original Phat 360 used clip-on hard drive caddies; the 360 Slim and the 360 E both moved to internal SATA bays accessed through a removable bottom panel. We stock the matched caddies and drives for each variant, plus memory units and the HDD transfer cable for moving content between consoles.
Quick picks by 360 model
- Original Phat 360: clip-on hard drive caddy. Sizes typically range up to 250GB OEM. Aftermarket cases let you fit larger SATA drives.
- 360 Slim: internal SATA bay accepts standard 2.5" laptop drives, often with a console-specific Microsoft firmware match. Pre-configured drives drop in.
- 360 E: same internal bay style as the Slim, similar drive options.

Xbox 360 memory. FAQs
Can I put any 2.5" hard drive in an Xbox 360?
Mechanically yes for the Slim and E, but the 360 expects a Microsoft-specific firmware match on the drive. Pre-configured 360 hard drives ship with the right firmware; raw drives often need flashing through tools like Hddhackr to work. The Phat 360 uses a separate clip-on caddy with similar firmware constraints.
Will a 360 memory unit work as game storage?
Memory units (256MB, 512MB, 1GB, 2GB, 4GB) hold game saves, profiles and Xbox Live Arcade content but are too small for full installs of disc games. For installing games to drive, you need a 360 hard drive, or USB storage formatted via the dashboard.
Can I move my old 360 hard drive to a new 360?
Yes, but you may need the Microsoft hard drive transfer cable to copy data between drives if the new console expects a different drive form factor (Phat caddy vs Slim internal). The dashboard handles the transfer once both drives are visible.
Do USB drives work as Xbox 360 storage?
Yes, the 360 supports up to 32GB of USB storage formatted in-dashboard. It's a useful budget option but not as fast as the internal SATA drive for installs.
