PS Vita and PSP games. FAQs
Will PSP UMDs play on a PS Vita?
No, the Vita has no UMD drive. PSP digital purchases linked to a PSN account can be re-downloaded on a Vita, but UMD discs are PSP-only.
Are Vita game cards region-locked?
Vita game cards are region-free for most retail releases, with rare exceptions for some Japanese-only digital-locked titles. PSP UMDs are also region-free for game discs (but UMD movies were region-locked).
Do PSP games run on the PSP Go?
Only as digital downloads, the Go has no UMD drive. PSN-linked digital library titles can be played on a PSP Go; physical UMDs cannot.
Are PSP and Vita games still being made?
Mainstream production wound down years ago, but small-run physical releases of indie games for both handhelds still surface from boutique publishers. Most stock today is back-catalog used and new-old-stock.
