The PS4 has a few well-known failure points, internal fans clog with dust, thermal paste dries out, HDMI ports take knocks, optical drives lose alignment. We stock the parts and kits to address all of them, across the original 2013 launch unit, the Slim and the Pro.
Quick picks by symptom
- If the console runs loud or hot: start with a clean and a fresh thermal paste service. The fan and heatsink are usually salvageable; the paste is the usual culprit on a PS4 that's seen years of use.
- If HDMI output is dropping or won't display: the HDMI port is a known wear part. Replacement is a board-level desolder job, intermediate difficulty.
- If the disc drive won't read or load: the laser sled or gear set is typically the candidate. Some disc-read issues also trace back to a worn drive belt on Slim revisions.
The PS4 service ladder
- External clean and dust blow-out: open the top panel, vacuum and blow the fan. Often this alone restores normal noise levels.
- Thermal paste service: pull the heatsink, clean and reapply quality thermal paste. Set aside an evening if it's your first console teardown.
- Replace the internal fan: if the fan is mechanically noisy or vibrating, a fresh OEM-spec fan restores quiet operation.
- HDMI port replacement: board-level work. Plan for a couple of hours and a temperature-controlled iron with hot-air rework if you have it.
- Disc drive parts: laser, gears, ribbon cables. Many PS4 disc-drive failures are mechanical rather than laser, so check the gear set first.

PS4 console spare parts. FAQs
Why does my PS4 sound like a jet engine?
Most loud PS4s have one or both of: dust packed around the fan and heatsink fins, or thermal paste that's dried out. Both are addressable with a teardown, open the console, vacuum and blow out the fan, pull the heatsink, clean off the old paste and apply fresh quality thermal paste. The fan itself is replaceable too if it's mechanically rattling.
Can the PS4 HDMI port be replaced?
Yes. The HDMI port is a surface-mount component on the main board. Replacement is intermediate-to-advanced repair work, desoldering the old port, cleaning the pads and soldering the replacement. Most modders use hot air. The community has well-documented guides for both the original and Slim revisions.
Are PS4 original, Slim and Pro internals shared?
Partly. Thermal paste, generic HDMI ports and some cables share across revisions, but the fans, heatsinks, disc drives and many internal cables are revision-specific. Check the model number on the rear of your console (CUH-1xxx for original, CUH-2xxx for Slim, CUH-7xxx for Pro) before ordering.
Is it worth servicing an old PS4?
For many owners, yes. A loud or overheating PS4 with a healthy main board often comes back to near-new with thermal paste, a fan clean and fresh HDD or SSD storage. If the board itself has failed (HDMI dead, no power, beep-of-death) the calculus shifts, board-level repair is doable but takes more time and skill than a paste service.
