The MayFlash 4-port GameCube Controller Adapter is the established way to use real GameCube pads on modern hardware. If you already own the controllers, this is the part that keeps them useful.
It covers an unusually wide spread of systems for a single adapter: Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Wii U and PC Windows, with Mac OS supported in PC mode. A switch on the side moves it between PC and Wii U/NS, and the adapter identifies the mode itself once connected.
These are four real ports rather than a hub, so four players are properly independent, and running two adapters side by side gives you eight controllers at once. That is why this particular adapter became the default for Smash tournaments and for the Slippi community, where using genuine GameCube pads is the entire point.
Two USB plugs come off the adapter and both do a job. USB-1, the black one, carries the connection to the console or PC. USB-2, the grey one, supplies the power for vibration feedback, so plug both in if you want rumble and only the black one if you do not.
On PC it works as a straight USB game controller across Windows XP through Windows 11, and it supports Dolphin, the GameCube and Wii emulator, which makes it the natural companion to an emulation setup as well as to original hardware. A driver download from MayFlash is needed if you want vibration feedback specifically in PC mode.
Firmware is updated regularly by MayFlash, which is the reason this adapter has kept working across console generations rather than being obsoleted by a system update.

Mac OS support requires a firmware update that must be carried out on a Windows PC first.
