The Nintendo Switch Lite (HDH-001, 2019) is the handheld-only Switch, smaller, lighter, no detachable Joy-Cons, no TV dock. Drift on the integrated analog sticks is the headline buyer concern, alongside cracked screens and worn buttons. ZedLabz stocks Switch Lite joystick replacements (including hall-effect upgrades), shells, screens and the smaller plastics for full teardowns.
Quick picks by repair scenario
- If a stick is drifting: a fresh joystick module. Hall-effect modules use magnetic sensors instead of contact-based potentiometers, avoiding the contact wear mechanism that causes drift. See hall-effect sticks.
- If the screen is cracked: a replacement LCD module. The Switch Lite screen is fused (LCD + digitiser), so replacement is a single unit swap.
- If a button feels dead: button kits and conductive pad sets restore feel. Screwdriver-only for most button work, no soldering needed.
The Switch Lite repair ladder
- Joystick replacement: the most common single repair. Tri-point Y00 driver and a careful teardown. An evening's project for first-time modders.
- Hall-effect joystick upgrade: same install as a like-for-like swap, with the long-term drift-resistant benefit. Set aside an evening for the first one.
- Button or D-pad refresh: straightforward screwdriver work once the chassis is open.
- Screen replacement: full teardown. Take care with ribbon cables.
- Shell swap: full rebuild territory. Plan for a couple of hours with patience.

Nintendo Switch Lite. FAQs
Why is the Switch Lite stick drifting?
Standard analog sticks use a small contact-based potentiometer to read stick position. Over time the carbon contacts wear, register false input, and produce drift. Switch Lite sticks are integrated into the chassis (not detachable like a Joy-Con), so the fix is a stick-module replacement rather than a controller swap.
Can I install hall-effect sticks in a Switch Lite?
Yes. Switch Lite-compatible hall-effect modules are widely available. The install is the same as a like-for-like stick replacement: open the chassis with a tri-point Y00 driver, lift the original module, fit the new one, refit. The hall-effect module avoids the contact-wear failure mechanism of standard sticks.
Are Switch Lite parts the same as standard Switch parts?
No, the Switch Lite has its own chassis, screen size, and integrated sticks. Standard Switch Joy-Con parts don't fit a Switch Lite. Some smaller components (specific connectors, certain conductive parts) may cross over; verify per part. Switch OLED is also a separate chassis.
How hard is a Switch Lite repair for a first-time modder?
Honest answer: intermediate. The chassis uses delicate ribbon cables and tri-point Y00 screws, and the integrated stick is more involved than swapping a Joy-Con. First-time modders should set aside an evening, watch a teardown video first, and have ESD tweezers and a plastic pry tool to hand. Patience helps a lot.
