The Sony PSP launched in 2004 and ran in three main revisions, PSP 1000 (the original "fat"), PSP 2000 (slim) and PSP 3000 (slim with improved screen). The PS Vita followed in 2011 with the original OLED model (PCH-1000) and the LCD Slim (PCH-2000). Both handhelds remain heavily collected for their proprietary game libraries plus emulation. ZedLabz stocks replacement batteries, screen lenses, charging cables and internal repair parts for both families.
Quick picks for any PSP or Vita owner
- The most-demanded fix: battery replacement. Original PSP and Vita cells from launch are now well past their normal cycle life, replacement cells restore playtime.
- The everyday refresh: battery, fresh charging cable, replacement screen lens for scratched units.
- The travel kit: battery, lens replacement, fresh stylus / charging cable, the kit you need to bring a stored PSP or Vita back into use.
PSP and Vita repair priorities
- Battery replacement: the most-installed fix for both handhelds. PSP batteries swap with a button release; Vita batteries are internal and require opening the unit.
- Screen lens replacement: the plastic top lens scratches in normal use. Replacement lenses install with a few minutes of careful work.
- Charging cable: PSP uses a proprietary barrel charger; original Vita uses a proprietary multi-pin charger; PCH-2000 Vita Slim uses standard micro-USB.
- Internal repair: button replacements, internal ribbons, shells for player-grade refurbishment.

PS Vita and PSP. FAQs
What's the difference between PSP 1000, 2000 and 3000?
The PSP 1000 (2004) is the original "fat" model. The PSP 2000 / Slim (2007) is thinner and lighter with improved Wi-Fi. The PSP 3000 (2008) shares the Slim chassis but adds an improved screen with anti-glare and a built-in microphone. Battery and screen lens parts vary by model, check the product page for the variant you need.
What's the difference between Vita PCH-1000 and PCH-2000?
The PCH-1000 (2011) is the original Vita with an OLED screen and a proprietary multi-pin charging connector. The PCH-2000 / Vita Slim (2013) uses an LCD screen and standard micro-USB charging. Battery, screen and charging parts are model-specific.
Are PSP and Vita batteries hard to replace?
PSP batteries are easy, slide the release on the back, swap the battery. No tools needed. Vita batteries are internal and require opening the back of the unit with a Phillips screwdriver and a plastic pry tool, an evening's project for a first-timer working carefully.
Can I still buy original PSP and Vita games?
Sony closed the PSN store for direct PSP and Vita purchases on most regions. Original UMD discs (PSP) and Vita cartridges are still traded on the secondary market. Many owners run modified firmware to play backups; this is outside our scope but worth flagging if you're researching options for an aged unit.
