Akai Katana is the original 2010 arcade game, complete with two-player co-op. Akai Katana Shin is the home console version in 16:9 with new features including Hagane and Katana. Akai Katana Zetsu is a further 16:9 revision with adjusted mechanics for players who want a different balance.

Settings let you adjust sound and screen display, and turning the screen frame on adds captions for character voices during play.

Score Attack gives you a single life with no continues and no restarts, saving rank and replays separately from normal play - which is where a shooter of this calibre actually lives.
