The stand provides a rest for a hot iron so that you can take your time and work safely, simply place the hot metal part of the iron down into the foldable wire rest.
At the front of the stand is a space for a rectanular damp foam, which is used for cleaning the iron tip whilst working.
Storing the stand is easy thanks to the compact size simply fold the metal rest down onto tht base and pop it into a drawer or toolbox.
Bakelite is a plastic like material which can withstand temperatures of up to 600 degrees centigrade.
