- Overclock flex mod for Game Boy Advance - Provides easier wire free installation - up to 170% clock speed increase - Compatible with IPS screen mods - Medium difficulty level, soldering & crystal removal required.
Description:
The robot_retro GBA overclocker flex mod provides a simple way of overclocking or underclocking your Gameboy advance.
The installation process has been simplified by eliminating the manual wiring process (with the exception of a single optional LED indicator wire).
NOTE: Whilst the wire free installation makes it much easier, it should be noted that the crstal will need to be removed, ideally with hot air. Highlights:
- Capable of over and underclocking to 30%, 50%, 75%, 130%, 150% or 170% of base clock. - Increase speed = Press Start and Up - Decease speed = Press Start and Right - Easy flex installation with optional wire link to LED DL2A. - Power LED will blink faster when overclocked and slower when underclocked. Base speed is a solid green LED. - Top speed can be set to 170%, 150% or 130%
The regular install has a maximum speed of 170%. This is suitable for the stock LCD, Funnyplaying v2 or Hispeedido v2 (non-laminated) kits.
If using the Hispeedido Laminated v5, bridge solder jumper S1 to limit the speed to 150%.
If using Funnyplaying 3.0 Inch Laminated, bridge solder jumper S2 to limit the speed to 130%.
Other Features:
Very low power consumption. Measured as <15mA using the Nordic Power Profiler Kit II. Accurate base clock (4.194Mhz). Measured as >0.01% accurate. There is will no difference between this mod and the original GBA crystal at stock speeds.
Installation:
Remove the GBA crystal. Recommended to use a hot air station for this step.
Install the flex as per photos.
Solder the points shown within the pink circles (total of 6 solder points). It is recommended to use flux for this step.
OPTIONAL: Run and wire between the flex and test point DL2A (both shown inside the yellow circles). This will make the power LED blink faster/slower when over or underclocking.
Speed Limiting:
- Bridge solder jumper S1 to limit the speed to 150%. - Bridge solder jumper S2 to limit the speed to 130%. - Developed in collaboration with RJS FPGA
